Message Hey guys,
Need some input on this one. My engine (well, it actually doesn't sound like the engine itself, but from something on front of it) has been making an odd noise for the past couple days. From inside the car, it just sounded like a very soft tick/gurgling. However, my dad noticed it sounded worse from outside the car. Sure enough, it is louder and more pronounced within the engine bay. Kind of hard to explain the sound, so I've attached a video of it and the other symptoms (not the greatest quality, but the best I can do).

My dad thought it sounded like a bad bearing, perhaps water pump. We did have the water pump replaced about a year ago, and that one went bad within a couple months. The engine squealed, so we had the mechanic tighten the belts. We thought maybe he had overtightened them. Well, after the second on was on, the engine eventually started squealing for a couple seconds on a cold startup. So, my initial thought was the water pump went bad for a third time. Before you guys ask and give me crap, no, it is not OEM (it's a GMB), but has a lifetime warranty and I expect it to last longer then this.

While looking at OEM water pump prices, I ran across the fan clutch. Out of curiosity, I searched how to test it and did the "spin test." When warm, I can fling it and get it to spin almost a full revolution. When started and revved up, I can see the fan slow down at a certain point and the blades actually bend to the point where they hit the coolant temp. sensor wire. Never heard/noticed this before, and the wire looks fine. A sound also gets more pronounced when revving. Please see video for all of this. I have also had an overheating problem with my car. Well, the gauge never has actually been pegged, but the car does get toasty on hot days. Driving helps, but not completely. I alway attributed that to a bit of gunk in the coolant system visible in the radiator, but maybe it could be more.

Now that's a lot of info, but do you guys have any input on it? Would this all point to a bad fan, fan clutch, water pump, or something else? Thanks much!
